about the blog

I know what it’s like to wade through life just barely  emotionally, mostly just going through the motions.

I know what it’s like to look back at day stretching into day stretching in to week and wonder, deep in my soul, what the point of it all really is.

I know what it’s like to persistently listen to the lies of fear and worry and anxiety and stress till I am utterly broken.

And I’ve learned that we don’t have to live that way.

We have the truth of God’s word and we have God’s Spirit alive in us to combat the stress, the apathy, the anxiety, and the overwhelm that so quickly steal our joy. I’ve been caught by my own emotions so often, that I’ve realized…I need to preach the truth of God’s word to my heart daily, hourly, and minute-by-minute.

This blog is not a commentary on my day-to-day life. I may not be struggling with the thing I am addressing the day I write about it. I may not be writing directly about any of my own personal struggles. But I have felt the weight of fear and anxiety and doubt and overwhelm crushing my soul enough to know what I, and maybe you too, need to hear.

The truths I’m speaking here I have preached to my own heart and I will continue to preach to myself daily.

My Pastor said once…

“Choices eventually create habits,
that become your character,
which is who you are.”

I love that! But I think it goes a step further. I would say…

Your thoughts become beliefs.
Beliefs determine your choices.
Choices eventually create habits.
Habits form your character…and character is who you are.

When you think something over and over, you begin to believe it. This blog is all about speaking the truth of God’s Word into our hearts and minds…over and over and over again, and then letting that truth transform who we are.

And that goal? It’s biblical.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2

Will you join me in this pursuit of keeping my mind and subsequently my heart and life focused on and living from the Truth found in Jesus Christ?

Be blessed,
Alesha
