It’s taken me a little while to introduce my word for the year, and honestly, I considered not writing about my word at all on here. Because it’s…well, humbling.
I just finished studying through the book of 1st Peter and I stumbled across something surprising at the end.

Humble3

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:6-7

I know verse 7. I think we all do.
But I never realized that Peter wrote those words in the context of humility.

I realized that Peter was essentially saying, “God is awesome and powerful and you are not, so humble yourself before Him. Accept what comes from His hand. And then give Him your worries about the troubles that come your way because He is loving. He cares about you and since you aren’t in control anyways, trust Him, because He cares about you.”

And it was one of those moments when the pieces fell into place in my heart.

In 2014, I dealt with a lot of anxious and a lot of learning to cast my cares on Him. But this year, I’m taking a step back to verse 7 and learning the humbled awe of an almighty God who can hold my heavy cares.

My word for 2015 is humble.

Humble1

I’m entering into a lot of new in 2015.
More specifically, I’m becoming a mom in 2015.

And there’s lots of room for me to take the humble road and learn from those who have gone before. More than that, there’s a lot of room for me to humble myself before God and pray.

Because if I want to see God move in greater ways in and through me in 2015, I need to get small before Him. He can’t move when I’m in the way.

So my word for 2015 is humble…and my husband’s word is focused. I think they fit perfectly, so I’m taking his for myself as well.
